Fulín wins to secure 2017 ETCC crown

03717012_2113_-1-800x477.jpgPetr Fulín ensured he was crowned the 2017 FIA European Touring Car Cup winner with a comfortable home victory in the second encounter at ETCC Race of Most in the Czech Republic earlier today (Sunday).

The 40-year-old Křenek Motorsport driver hit the front when title rival Christjohannes Schreiber crashed his Rikli Motorsport Honda Civic while challenging Igor Stefanovski for the lead on lap six of Race 2. As Stefanovski’s SEAT was delayed by the contact, Fulín swept past and made good his escape to secure the ETCC title in emphatic fashion as Autodrom Most hosted the ETCC for the first time.

ETCC testing flash: Fulín fastest on home ground

pfdx9108-800x533.jpgCzech racing driver and FIA European Touring Car Cup leader Petr Fulín went fastest in Friday free testing session in Most, driving the SEAT Leon TCR.

The Křenek Motorsport driver had swapped top position with Igor Stefanovski throughout the 45-minute session until Fulín clocked the 4.212 km circuit in 1min43.542s in the closing stages, before dry running interrupted a rain shower.

Křenek Motorsport is entering Václav Nimč at the FIA ETCC final

11_resized.jpgThis year the 17-jear Czech rookie is driving his first season of Renault Twingo Cup for Křenek Motorsport Junior Team and will take a big step up to a VW Golf TCR at the ETCC final.

Although he started with in motorsports only a few months ago, Václav already achieved several podium finishes and thus confirmed his racing roots. Then his father, Václav Nimč, is a very experienced racing driver who, among other categories, was very successful in the German STW championship on Opel Vectra.

ETCC Race 2 flash: Stefanovski dominates dramatic reverse-grid race

1.jpgIgor Stefanovski made up for his disappointment in the opening ETCC Race of Zolder round by dominating the reverse-grid encounter from pole position in an action-packed FIA European Touring Car Cup event in Belgium.

The Macedonian was classified only eighth in the first race after shredding the rubber from the front left tyre of his Stefanovski Racing Team SEAT León Cup racer. But he made the most of his reverse-grid pole in the second round to lead all the way as drama played out behind him.

ETCC Race 1 flash: Schreiber wins from second row

3.jpgChristjohannes Schreiber made a scorching start from the second row to win the opening encounter of ETCC Race of Zolder on Sunday to secure his fourth victory of the year in the FIA European Touring Car Cup.

The Swiss driver was only fourth on the grid in his Rikli Motorsport Honda Civic, but timed his getaway to perfection to shoot into the lead into Turn 1 at the former Belgian Grand Prix circuit. From there, Schreiber was never headed to win the 13-lap race and close on points leader Petr Fulín, who failed to score.

ETCC Qualifying report: Nagy claims second pole of 2017

2.jpgNorbert Nagy will start ETCC Race of Zolder in first place after claiming his second consecutive pole position of the FIA European Touring Car Cup season, edging out Igor Stefanovski by 0.342s.

Fábio Mota made it an all-SEAT top three but there was frustration for title leader Petr Fulín who was stranded in the pits with a technical issue and failed to set a time.
