This year’s ESET V4 Cup has already had its fourth sequel. The stage was set on the penultimate race-weekend of August at the Slovakia Ring, near the Slovak capital Bratislava.

Representing the FormulaStar team, Pirmin Weixler, Tomas Koreny and Petr Semerad.

Petr Semerad had a busy schedule, as he started in the Twingo Cup and together with Tomas Koreny in the Formula Gloria C8F as well.

The young drivers put on a show for the Slovak audience with hard fights and pure race action. In the evaluation class Remus L21 Junior, each of them reached the podium with second and third place. In the first race, Petr Semerad was successful, on Sundays race Tomas Koreny.

In Saturday’s Twingo Race, Petr Semerad scored points for his sixth place overall, as well for the second place in the junior category. Unfortunately he could not start in Sundays race, due to a technical problem on his car, which occurred in the Inlap.

The German racer Pirmin Weixler, who is one of the contenders for the overall victory in the Twingo Cup, had to fight hard in both races with Gasper Dernovsek, who is his main rival for the battle of overall victory. The delivered some great racing action during both races, unfortunately with the bad end for Weixler due to contact with his rival.

In races one Weixler damaged the front of the car and came fourth cross the finish line. On Sundays Weixler suffered same bad luck, this time ending up in the gravel after contact with another car and unable to re-join the race.

Words of the riders:

Petr Semerad: “The Slovakia Ring was completely new to me. My goal was to learn the track as fast as possible and get a good result. I am more than happy how my weekend went! In the first race I had some nice wheel to wheel fights, and in the second race I could score second place in front of Thomas Koreny. The first Twingo race was really difficult and annoying for me, because my car seemed to be 6 seconds slower than my rivals. For the second race, we exchanged some parts in the car and it went a lot better. This time I could manage to do sixth place.”

“The Slovakia Ring is one of the most popular tracks among the drivers but when I did my first laps in Thursdays training with the Twingo, I didn’t enjoy it to much. I thought it was a really slow track and not so special. When I switched to the Formula, also my opinion completely chanced. The track was now completely different. Very enjoyable, fast and demanding. I think I can say after this weekend, that the Slovakia Ring is my favourite race track so far!”

Tomas Koreny: “I did never race before on the Slovakia Ring, but Racing with Petr allowed us to put on a great show and go to our limits. Unfortunately, we had all weekend engine problems so we couldn’t reach our maximum performance. In the second race for example, I had a great start but had to give up many positions, due to my engine problems. Otherwise, the Slovakia Ring race weekend was positive for me. There are always a lot of local people coming to the race and the atmosphere is great for us drivers.”

Pirmin Weixler: “ I came to the Slovakia Ring with the goal to fight back my leading position in the championship. Krenek Motorsport did a perfect job, which allowed my to be competitive in both races. Slovakia Ring is well known for its long straights, where slipstream is crucial. During both races I had to fight hard and was most of the time leading the field. At the end I couldn’t finish on top of the podium due to minor errors. In the first race I damaged the front bumper in the last lap of the race, which cost me a lot of time, as a consequence I finished in fourth position. Also in the second race I had a last lap contact with another car, this time ending up in gravel and not able do finish the race. I guess luck was not on my side this weekend. However I leave also with good feelings the Slovakia Ring, because I really enjoyed the good atmosphere and the demanding race track, which combines fast and slow corners. No there is only one race left in Brno where I will do again my best to fight for the overall victory. I wish to thank everyone who supporter me, during this raceweekend.”
