Krenek Motorsport drivers will start race one from second and third row

The battle for points at Vila Real has now begun for the FIA ETCC drivers. The Krenek Motorsport pilots Petr Fulin and Christjohannes Schreiber finished saturdays free practice in fourth and seventh position. The qualifying took place in the late afternoon and lastet, due to two interruptions, more than a hour. Both drivers were able to improve their morning postions by one place. Petr Fulin will start tomorrows first race from third position (2:06,724) and Christjohannes Schreiber will start from sixth position (2:07,738).

Junior driver Tomas Koreny who drives the Ravenol Ford Fiesta in the class of 1600 made a good third place with a time of 2:22,511.

"Our drivers took third and sixth position at the last second of qualification. Qualifying was stopped twice after the accidents of Stefanovski and Mota and for us it was never clear when it will be restartet. Coping with this difficulties, both my drivers have my admiration. All of the drivers spent more than a hour in the overheated cars but my pilots were still able to do their fastest lap in the very last part of qualification.
Tomorrow we can expect two very interesting races in front of a fantastic portougese crowd. The popularity of this race is unreal, I wish it were everywhere like this," said team principal Mr. Josef Krenek after qualifying.

Words of the drivers:

Petr Fulin, 3rd place: "I am happy with the result today. In the first session I had problems with the driveshaft so I couldnt drive in the second run of free practice. The qualifying itself was very hard for me. A lot of heart, a lot of heat - these conditions are unbelievable. I have additional 50kg in my car and the local drivers feel like at home on this track. Most important for me was to be in front of Kris Richard who is in second place in the drivers championship. At the end of the season this could be very important for me.

Christjohannes Schreiber, 6th place: "With sixth postion I can not be satisfied, but today it was just not enough for more. I did my best, but it shouldnt be today. I believe that I can improve in tomorrows race but overtaking is difficult here."
