The Prague team Krenek Motorsport has been participating since its origin in 1996 in a number of diverse races on different tracks. Considering going in its jubilee 20th season, the first street circuit race of Vila Real will be a special event for the team and the drivers. Last race in the FIA ETCC, brought Petr Fulin and Christjohannes Schreiber to the legendary Nordschleife, was also a premiere for Krenek Motorsport.
It has been less than a month since then and the team is preparing itself for a long journey to Vila Real, Portugal.

Round seven and eight of this years FIA ETCC will take place on the streets of the portugese city Vila Real and it will be for the first time, that cars from the Krenek Motorsport team will race on a street circuit. Wheter it will be a successful weekend for the team as the one at the Nordschleife, where Petr Fulin took the first victory in history of modern ETCC on that particular track, we still have to wait a few days. What is certain though, is that both drivers will be ready and focused for Portugal with the sure determination to do the best for the team.

"I already have some experience on street circuits because I raced in the Supercopa at the Norisring. To be perfectly prepared I studied my onboard footage. Succeeding in Vila Real will be crucial because the races will be awarding double points. Therefore I need 100% concentration and have to avoid any kind of mistakes. On a street circuit the barriers are very close and the slightest mistake could have desastrous consequences," said Petr Fulin when asked about the portugese race weekend.

On the other hand, street circuits are a completely new experience for Christjohannes Schreiber: "Racing in the city of Vila Real will be a whole new experience for me. It won't be easy, but the good results from the Nordschleife gave us confidence that we can succeed on this demanding track. Each track has its pitfalls. It is important to avoid errors and to drive with caution and a clear mind."

The race in Portugal will also be a special occasion for the team principal, Mr. Josef Krenek:
"The journey from Prague to Vila Real measures more than 2,500 kilometers. A part of the team and the truck will start this trip after the last race of ESET V4 Cup on sunday from the Most Autodrome. The next race of FIA ETCC will be just two weeks after Vila Real at Magny-Cours. Its very important for us, that the car will remain in one piece after the portugese races, because there won't be any time for big repairs.
I am looking forward to the Portugal race weekend and it is the last time this year we will be participating together with the WTCC and it's only our second race in Portugal ever. Eight years ago in 2008, we were in Estoril with Adam Kout for a Formula Renault Eurocup race."

This weekend will take place in the typical three days order. On friday are two test sessions scheduled, which together provide the drivers 90 minutes to become familiar with the local streets. On saturday morning will be another free practice, followed by the qualification at 16:20 for half an hour.
The two races will take place on sunday at 10:20 and 11:30. Petr Fulin and Christjohannes Schreiber will race next to Tomas Koreny, who will participate in the Ford Fiesta Ravenol Cup.
