start_race1_2.jpgThe FIA European Touring Car Cup will resume next week in Italy, with a strong field of 28 cars taking part in rounds 7 and 8 at Pergusa, in Sicily.

Both races will be live on Eurosport 1 (see schedule here below).
Czech racer Petr Fulín, leader of the Super 2000 class, is eager to make up for the bad weekend he had in Austria, where he scored only three points and saw his Slovak rival Mat’o Homola closing the gap to four points. They are both at the wheel of BMW cars laden with nearly the same amount of ballast: 45 kilos for Fulín, 50 for Homola.
In the Super 1600 class, Germany’s Kevin Krammes has built a large gap of 31 points and aims for securing his second consecutive European title in Sicily. Italian driver “Romeo Luciano” will try to use the home advantage to threaten the second position held by Gilles Bruckner from Luxembourg.
The fight for the Single Make Trophy title is closer than ever with seven drivers covered by only twenty points. Following his home victory at the Salzburgring, Austria’s Mario Dablander is chased by 17-year old Spaniard Jordi Oriola, Frenchman Aurélien Comte and Nikolay Karamyshev of Russia who lies three, six and ten points adrift respectively. Ballast may make the difference, with Dablander and Comte carrying 50 kilos on board against Oriola’s 42 and Karamyshev’s 30.
