The Brno race weekend was the last round for this years Twingo Cup and also the last two races for Pirmin Weixler, Lubor Hanzl and Petr Semerad. Petr Semerad however did also compete in the Formula L21 Remus with his teammate Tomas Koreny.

On the Czech racetrack of Brno the German Andreas Estner joined Semerad and Koreny. Estner, who raced in this years ADAC Formula Championship, took the opportunity to test and learn the for him new circuit.

Petr Semerad who is only 15 years of age is a promising talent for motorsport future. “ We discovered Petr Semerad in the talent contest JuniorStar. He is very talented and deserves to get chance to proof himself next to young drivers like Tomas Koreny and Vaclav Safar. We thank our partners for their help in realization of making this true. I can only say that we are already preparing and planning a Formula 4 season and I am convinced we will launch a good project,” said team principal Josef Krenek after the test on Thursday.

This years Brno audience could witness how Andreas Estner took the podium twice for the winner in he’s category. Josef Krenek could also be very satisfied with the performance of his Twingo drivers. Pirmin Weixler who could win overall victory of this years Twingo Cup. In race one he ended up in ninth position after making contact with one of he’s rivals but in race two he scored a second place, which secured him overall victory.

Petr Semerad took two third places, which ensured him also third place in the overall championship. Lubor Hanzl could score a good fifth place in the overall standings.

In formula racing however, the luck was not on the side of Petr Semerad. He couldn’t  finish a single race due to technical problems. Tomas Koreny stepped in and secured the team two good third places with his Gloria C8F.

What the drivers said:

Petr Semerad: “ Despite it was my first time on this circuit, I really did like the track and its uphill and downhill passages. Thanks to Krenek Motorsport I became the first Czech driver ever to drive a Formula F4, when I had the change to test-drive it in Thursdays’ practice session. I really enjoyed my ride in this single-seater. The F4 was quite different from the formula car I am used to drive but I it was easy for me to adapt. In the Twingo I had a really successful weekend. Two third places are a wonderful result for me. Krenek Motorsport gave me the opportunity to show that I always can fight for the podium and I am thankful for that. My weekend in the formula, on the other hand, was not so enjoyable. In the first race I felt that I had a perfect car and I was ready to fight for a top position. I had a good start and in the first lap I was able to overtake five opponents. Sadly my race was over in lap three when I was braking for turn 11. My front left wheel dropped and I was forced to park my car in the gravel. In the second race I again had a good start, but after a few laps I cracked my rear left rim, which also meant that my race was over to quickly. Despite my bad luck in the formula races, I want to thank the Krenek Motorsport team for giving my always a competitive and fast car which I could convert at least in the Twingo races.”

Lubor Hanzl: “The races in Brno were the first races since the opening weekend in Hungary. So I was looking forward to this race and I had a lot of fun during the whole weekend. The race weekend started for me with the free test on Thursday where the experienced Jure Marinsek helped me a lot. I could improve a lot, which was important to me because it was long time, since I sad in a race car. After qualifying I had to start race one from the sixth row. Race one I finished on fourth position in junior class. In race two I had a good start and I managed to overtake two of my opponents. In the second lap I had contact with another Twingo, which did set me back so I was again on fourth place in junior class. I am considering the fact that I sat in my car the last time four month ago, so I am satisfied with my result. I would like to thank Krenek Motorsport, Lema Racing, Jure Marinsek and my grandfather. This race weekend I would like to dedicate to my uncle Luke Hanzl, who always was a great person and athlete.”

Tomas Koreny: “Brno is a great track for me, it almost feels like home. It is a fast track so it is really enjoyable with the formula cars. Unfortunately I couldn’t win on my home track. I scored two third places but it was not enough to threaten the Chabr Motorsport team who did a great job. Third place was for me the best possible result but I am not completely satisfied. A big thank goes to my team Krenek Motorsport who did a great job the whole weekend.”

Pirmin Weixler: “Brno is my second favourite race track just behind the Hungaroring. There are some amazing corners on this circuit, especially those where the track is going uphill. I am happy that I finally managed to win the overall championship in Twingo. My big thanks goes to Krenek Motorsport and my coaches Tom and Bob. They all did a great job!”

Andreas Estner: “For me, Brno is a good track. I love the fast corners and the up- and downhill passages. It was my first time here on this track and it was not easy for me, but I think I can be satisfied with my overall performance. For my next race, I would like to focus more on tire management during the race.”
